I lose my connection to the internet after exactly 2 hours and have to dial up again to connect, once more only for another 2 hours. This is not due to inactivity or anything like that and so is not the auto-disconnect setting which I've disabled. Therefore my question is : Is this controlled by my ISP or is there a hidden setting on my PC that can be changed to stop this annoyance ie changing a setting on the Registry.

Many thanks in anticipation...

Very possible it is caused by your isp. What I would do is setup another account ( use a friends account, different isp) on the same machine and verify. At least this will point you in the right direction. Jeter@LasVegas.com

This sounds very much like something the ISP is doing. Many ISP's don't want you connected forever. They would rather not have you connected any longer that you have to to free up resources for other customers, etc. The fact that this happens in exactly 2 hours seems to confirm this. They have a max call time set up for 2 hours.

Call your ISP and ask them about that. No guarantee they will tell you anything let alone change it for you (it's probably a global setting for all their customers but I'm sure it can be changed for individual users).

Good luck.
