Hi - I am losing alot of hd space on the exchange server, though I have deleted two very large mailboxes. I emptied the bad mail file which wasn't very large - I stopped and started the sevices but I didn't recover any space.

Exchange 2000 sp3
Windows 2000
Enterprise version

thanks

Check your log files. Do you have a large amount of them? Look for .log files, they will always be 5,120 KB.

You won't recover hard disk space simply by deleting mailboxes. You'll get white space back after an online defrag which will allow more data to be put into that allocated space on the HDD.

If you actually want the HDD space back you'd need to do an offline defrag of the store.
