I run a small LAN using a Linksys Router (BEFSR41) with three computers. two of them are XP machines and the other is Windows ME. The ME machine works great but the XP machines lose the Default Gateway every time they are shout down. To regain access after starting eather machine I have to unplug the Router and then click on Repair this solves the problem with one machine. When I start the other XP machine and do the same as above the first XP machine will lose it's Default Gateway and it's access and then the second will gain access. I have tried to run the XP network setup disk on both machines which didn't help.

Thanks Jeff

You are using the LinkSys DHCP server? When the XP machines lose the default gateway, is it just the gateway, or do the IP's change as well? Perhaps the DHCP client service is the issue?

If you are usng the router as DHCP server and it does not have a defualt gateway cobfigured under the DHCP settings the workstation will lose it on restart/relog.
