I do apologize in advance for any ignorance. My config is: DSL service with (1) Static IP; Linksys BEFSR41 Router/Switch; two PC's running W2K... Everything WAS functioning properly, configuring the router using the Static IP and turning on DHCP. The PC's TCP/IP settings were also configured to DHCP.

I then had to install a Citrix/VPN software onto one of the PC's to connect to the corporate network and this is where the sheet hit the fan. The corp IT dept has indicated that a Static IP is preferred, however, if I needed to utilize a LINKSYS router, I would have to configure the PC and router to turn off DHCP. I was told that the static IP address I asign to the PC COULD NOT be in the 192.168.x.x range.

I then setup the PC w: Static 10.0.x.x; Subnet 255.0.0.0; Gateway 192.168.x.x; and the DNS server entries provided by the ISP. Well, the connection lasts about 10 minutes then loses it. If I change the IP address to +1 or +2 the connection is re-established for about 10 minutes again. OVER and OVER.

I then changed to: Static 172.16.x.x; Subnet 255.255.0.0 and leave the other settings untouched. Well, the connection is established again for about 10 minutes only.

I then changed to: Static 192.168.x.x; Subnet 255.255.255.0 and leave the other connections untouched. Well, this time, I can access the internet but of course, can not be granted into the firewall... :(

IF I bypass the router altogether and link the DSL modem directly to the PC, utilizing the ISP's Static IP, the connection to both the internet and corp network is fine. This has been going on for 6 months and corp IT is no help.

FYI, the 2nd PC does not have the Citrix/VPN software. Dependent on the router's config, if I set the 2nd PC's static IP 10.0.x.x or 172.16.x.x, the same connection problem arises (losing after ~10 minutes). I really appreciate any assistance in the matter, for I am about to put a sledgehammer to all this. Thanks.

Make sure the Gateway IP address on the Linksys is in the same netblock as your pc's

Linksys = 10.0.0.1

pc1 = 10.0.0.2
pc2 = 10.0.0.3

not sure that will solve your problemo but worth a shot

cheers

Benzito, once I changed the ROUTER's gateway IP, I lost my connection. I then changed PC1 and nothing changed. Still no connection. I talked to someone and they told me that some firewall software app's have a default 600 sec timeout. Unfortunately, I can't find that setting on my software. It is VPN-1 SecuRemote by Checkpoint Systems. I do appreciate your suggestion however.
