loosing icon on desktop

I have multiple users on xp and i lost my internet explorer icon and no on my program list. It is still on my wifes user name. How did this happen and how can i get it back.

Is the desktop cleanup wizard running, ,you can find it by right clicking on the desktop, properties, desktop tab, customize desk top. the see if the box is checked.
