Please excuse lack of detail but not had a chance to look at yet.

We have a PC that begins booting then when reaching Windows 2000 splash screen it re-boots.

Anyone seen this problem before or know how to resolve it ?

cheers

Yes basically u are getting a BSOD (blue screen of death) which is not allowing the OS to load. Instead of just giving you the BSOD the OS tries to reboot itself to fix the error.

have you installed new software/drivers or hardware lately?

try gong to safe mode and seeing if there are conflicts in the device manager

control panel --->system --->device mananger

if there are either uninstall them or disable them and load restart normally

failing that in safe mode
Control Panel|System|Advanced|Startup and Recovery,
"Automatically reboot" this way you get a chance to read the stop error and post it here someone (not me hehe) will surely be able to help you)

hope it helps

try going into safe mode to scan for virus's, I think there are a couple that will do this.
restart the computer and after it beeps keep hitting F8 untill you get to the safe mode screen.
if the virus stuff isnt it, you should try to insert your original windows 2000 cd and try to boot from it. when you get at the installation menu there is a FIX option that will check your files.
