lookup fields, only one lookup sends email

I have an issues list in which I have 2 lookup fields, but only one of them delivers an email when chosen. I want to be able to create an issue and assign it to multiple people that each need to receive an email notifying them of a new issue. Is this a glitch or is it not possible to do in WSS?
 
not possible out of the box

a solution i once invented was to create a dummy user account in AD, forward his mail to a Distribution list , and add this user to the WSS site.
When ppl assigned an issue to this account everyone in the distribution list got notified.....

maybe this isn't what you need but i hope it helped...

the other solution is having someone write some code for you to solve this problem
