Hello,

The Lookup By Example dialog box for opportunities seems to use this operator instead of equal to. This produces strange results. If you select "bulk coffee" in the opportunity product name field, in addition to retrieving opportunities with bulk coffee, you also get opportunities with bulk chocolate. Can this be changed to use the "equal to" operator instead of the starts with operator? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Mike,

Yes, I have used the Advanced Lookup query window. As long as I do not use the "Starts with" operator, I get the correct results.

It seems like the "Starts with" operator only works until there is a space in the data entered in the value field on the Advanced Lookup query window. That's the only way that I can explain why this happens. It seems like a bug. If you type in bulk coffee, you should now see records that have bulk chocolate in the results.

I know that I fall into the catagory of an old time programmer, but that logic just does not sit well with me.

I can only tell you that it doesn't happen in the system I have installed. But thet's probably a later version that yours... and I only have this version installed here now

Hi Mike,

If you have the time could you try the following steps and let me know what happens. This is scary that the version of ACT! that you have doesn't have this problem.

1. open the demo database.
2. click on the opportunity list btn in the navigation bar.
3. lookup - - >opportunities - -> product name.
4. in the search for product name field on the right, select "bulk coffee" and click ok.

on the opportunity list view, in the product name column, i see some records with "bulk chocolate.

thank you.

Thanks for trying Mike.
I can't help but wonder why the product was removed (smile)
