Lookup, By Example, Advanced Query

ACT version 9.0.1.162. Every time I do an Advanced Query, if I change the operator, the value I entered in the Value field disappears. Ferinstance, you want to find a company that contains the word "Federal." The easiest way is (used to be) Lookup, By Example and type Federal in the company field. Then Advanced Query and Edit and change the operator from Starts With to Contains. Boink! the value disappears.

Very annoying! Any ideas?
