I do not know if I am in the right place!
My background is in Finance/Accounting. In three years I anticipate entering the local MBA program with an emphasis in MIS. Until that time, I would like to gain some Microsoft Certifications that will help me break into the technology side of the company I am currently employed with. I work for a Broker Dealer. Which Microsoft certification might allow me to best do this? My background in information technology is extremely limited. Thanks, Ray

Well I think you really need to find something that you enjoy, the IS world encompasses quite a bit and it is up to you to figure out which part you want to mess with.

That said, if you are going to try and wiggle into the Network Admin scene I would suggest heading the route of starting small and getting familiar with the OS level of things, maybe get your MCDST which is a basic XP cert (again I dont know your background) from here since its an elective to the MCSA roll into the 70-270 which will be the main XP exam focused on the corporate setup of an XP enviroment.

This is probably what I would do, but others do the 70-290 (server 2003) then the client then 291 and elective...

If you want to go into the database side of things, I am clearly not the right guy to ask. I cant however stress enough that you find within yourself what you love most about IT and just putting your mind 110% behind it and achieving what it is you set out for.

In any case, best of luck to you.. Dont give up before you start and always keep your head above water no matter how much you think you cant swim.
