Hi,

I'm looking in to learning Delphi. Right now, I know COBOL, I'm learning C/C++ and I know a little VB. I see that it is based mostly on Pascal. Would you say I need to learn Pascal outright before giving Delphi a try or do you think I have a good enough background as a starting point?

Also, what is Delphi mostly used for in the real world? If you have any good websites to look at for learning Delphi and or Pascal, please let me know.

Thanks for your help.

One of the places to start is if you are looking for case studies in Delphi (and other Borland Products).

You do not have to learn Pascal (although it is handy), just buy some good book on delphi. Mastering Delphi from Marco Cantu is a good start.

If you already know VB, the drag and drop way of programming should be familiar.

But remember, loops and comparisons can not be done with drag and drop programming. There is were a Pascal programming book will help you out.
