Hello - this is not really an "issue" but I thought someone may have some suggestions for me.

Currently I use SquirrelMail, it came with our hosting plan and I stumbled on it one day, and I like it fine. But it is limited - lacking some features I would like to have.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a client that did the following:

1) allowed selective viewing/downloading from the server (I like the global quality of the web based applications like SquirrelMail - I'm fairly mobile these days and need my mail wherever I am)
2) allowed for multiple accounts and the ability to reply from a selected account.
3) the ability to create folders for storage (ala the MS products and others)
4) the ability to create filters for routing to these folders as well as rules for catching/deleting spam, etc....

I'm not that interested in the other bells and whistles - I like the simplicity of SM but just need a few other features. ;)

Thanks so much!
Thom

Squirrelmail can do all of those with some added plugins, but item 2 might be a little iffy, depending on exactly what you mean.

Horde's Imp should is another webmail interface that should also be able to provide the same functionality. However both of these need to be installed on a web server, so neither should really be considered a true 'client' software.

Outlook does everything you're looking to do, although I'd have it download everything to your laptop so that you have it for offline viewing.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

though i am not familiar with SquirrelMail. . .
my host has web mail access, filtering, and SMTP relaying
i use Thunderbird on my home pc and laptop
i set the laptop to leave copies of emails on the server and send copies of all laptop emails sent to my other email account so when i am on the road everything ultimately ends up on my home pc
this seems to be the best of both worlds for me and gives me everything you are looking for. . .maybe
