We're on the fence between upgrading our Avaya CM 2.2 system to support IP and implementing Cisco UC 6. Since I have to be prepared for the eventuality of going to Cisco, I'm researching the true differences between the two, like what advantages each has over the other and what they share in common. I get the feeling many of you have been down this road. I'm looking for some good INDEPENDENT (balanced) whitepapers or just plain old personal research on the following:
1) Differences between IP-Enabled TDM and pure VoIP; pros and cons of both.
2) A detailed Avaya-to-Cisco feature description translation
3) Call center differences between Avaya and Cisco

Thanks to any who can point me in the right direction.

I did a search for you

And came a way with more than I thought I would. I think this is going to boil down to personal preference and what others have been made to work. Cooperate knows the name Cisco and how much of their money is invested in their networks. Why not phones too?

Personally I would not like to have two different vendors to work with should I have problems. So I would not mix the two. Although a lot of people here have, they do not always play nice together. Our networking group here is trying to do the same you are looking into. The know the name Cisco, but they do not know Avaya or phones.

So to me, why would I buy Cisco systems to interface with my Avaya servers when the Avaya's do the same things and not have to invest in another system? But that's just my outlook on it.

The wireless telegraph is not difficult to understand. The ordinary telegraph is like a very long cat. You pull the tail in New York, and it meows in Los Angeles. The wireless is the same, only without the cat.

I found a few more things for you including a white paper. I did a search at the top of the page Avaya vs. Cisco and found several threads including this one. thread690-1325765

It has a power point presentation on the last post.

It should help you with what you are looking for.
