Does anyone know of a program (freeware/shareware/VB source code) that will allow you to selectively delete cookies? I know you can just delete the cookie (.txt file) from the "Cookies" folder, but there's still additional junk in the "index.dat" file in the same folder. Thank you.

Which o/s? And are there any cookie in particlular you want to remove? There are some that are useful

I have just started to used AdAware and so far it is GREAT. The free version is rather basic, but does the job. It sniff out all trackers and you choose which to quarantine.

If you browse with any of the Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox family of browsers, the options allow direct access inside the cookie file, and you can read and delete them individually. I also use a shareware program called Cookie Crusher ( that does much the same thing, and allows me great flexibility in controlling just which cookies are allowed in and how long they get to stay.

AdAware, while a wonderful product (run daily here, along with Spybot S&D) doesn't allow removal of individual cookies.

I like the idea of Cookie Crusher, ttterk, but I query your comment about AdAware "doesn't allow removal of individual cookies". I use v6 and each time I run it, I get a list with checkbox beside each, allowing me to choose which to discard. If I pay for it, I think there is an option to track and quarantine automatically, but for the moment, free works for me.

That's just it--AdAware sniffs out "trackers" and ignores the great multitude of other cookies. And the cookie that SleepDepD is referring to is probably not a "tracker" cookie.
