Hello

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question. please bear with me...

A friend of mine runs a small studio where she records TV commercials. She records onto betamax tape via a 35mm camera, and then edits the results in Speed Razor, which gives her direct access to her Sony beta machine (i don't have model numbers as she's not beside me right now).

This system is ten years old and the Beta machine is starting to keel over so i reckon it's time to replace it.

Here's my question: what's the new industry standard? I guess we're on digital now but our local TV channels only accept Beta (they don't have the opposable thumbs required to work anything else! :) ). Are there any newer beta systems that allow for direct access to Beta? Or any other systems? guess the worst case scenario owuld be the following:

1. A new broadcast-quality camera
2. connectivity between the camera and computer (USB perhaps?)
3. Video editing software

i know it's a long post, but i will be eternally grateful for any help or suggestions.

Thanx a million!
