I am an NT administrator trying to get some insight into Unix. My company has an HP 9000 box running HP-UX 11.0 32-bit and a Sun box running Solaris 8.

I need to purchase some good books that will help me to forget all I know or think I know going from Windows to Unix!!

Thank you in advance,

Talthax.

Here are a few good ones on UNIX:

O'Reilly Press The Unix CD Bookshelf
I like having six excellent books from beginning to advanced UNIX on one CD-ROM to use at work without the need to carry tons of heavy books. Definitely a must get.

Sams Teach Yourself Shell Programming in 24 Hours
Excellent way to learn UNIX and shell scripting a must for any UNIX guru wannabe. You will need to at least be able to read and understand Unix scripts.

These will get you up and running fast.

Talthax -

I highly recommend the following book if you will be working with HP-UX:

HP Certified: HP-UX System Administration
by Rafeeq Rehman

Don't let the "certified" in the title mislead you, this is also a good book for someone just getting started with UNIX/HP-UX.

Best of luck to you!
