All-

I am trying to support a Canon ImageRunner 3320N under CUPS on Suse 10.0. I can find support for 330s, which with a little guesswork and trickery does print there, sorta. But the experience is not fun as there are errors generated on the printer of various sorts and they need to be ack'ed or ignored by button pressing. Hmmmmm... Seems to not be the right combination of driver and hardware. Does anyone know if there are any ppd files and/or drivers for this combination (Suse 10.0 and the Canon printer) that work right? The Canon web site seemed to be all about Windows with little or no mention of Linux, let alone CUPS. The CUPS web site seemed to be all about everyone except Canon. Is this the actual state of affairs, or has anyone gotten this to work and would be kind enough to share the experience? I will be satisfied with basic printing support if that is all that is available, but some of the options of special effects, paper selection, collation of copies, and so on would be helpful. It is also not too late to change Linux distribution or version if another one supports this, so I am kind of open to that option as well.

It should use standard HP LaserJet commands. Try telling SUSE that it's something like a LaserJet III or other "generic" HP Driver.

Just my 2¢

If you are unable to locate a PPD, try installing the drivers on a Windows PC and then searching the system for *.ppd... this trick has worked for me a few times in the past.

Also connect to the web administration interface in CUPS and make sure that the printer configuration is good (e.g. paper size, etc). Any changes you make in there will update the /etc/cups/ppd/queuename.ppd file you are using.
