Hey guys,

Thanks for reading. I need a script that will run when pc boots up that will do the following:

1) Do some sort of IPconfig to determine IP range (all pc's will be DHCP)

2) create a list in a txt file on the pc of computer names on the ip range found in step 1 example: (XP5400A, XP5400B, XP5400C, etc.)

3) Change the computer name of the pc the script was ran on to the next name in line based on the txt file.

4) join the pc to the domain.

I want to create an image and have this script run once after image loads and pc boots up. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help. Much appreciated!

Warmest Regards,

Samantha

Sounds like a startup script. Most of the things that you want to do have probably been discussed in this forum. Have you tried searching? What code have you written so far?

Thanks EBGreen for the response.

I have bene looking around here and on the net for something that fits what I need however I cant find anything. Maybe I'm not searching for the correct terms?

anyway, this project is just in the planning stages for me and I havent written any code yet. I'm doing research on how to go about it first.

Thanks for your interest in helping.

Sam

I doubt that you will find a script that does exactly everything that you want. What you will need to do is find things that do pieces of what you want (or even near to some piece of what you want but not exactly). Then put them together into the script that you really want. We will help you get them together and tweak it to be just what you want.
