need a new motherboard, 13 month old dell inspiron. It's not accepting the AC adapter. I have tested the ac adapter with a voltage meter. It will cost about $700 to get fixed. Several have told me that I need a professional to install the new one. Also, checking on motherboard problems the inspiron 5150 had huge motherbaord issues within the first 15 months and reocurring. Some are talking about a capacitor issue.

I'm thinking to just buy a new computer and make sure to buy the 3 year warranty. Since this may another siimiliar issue in the next several years. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Its likely not worth putting that much money into. What you could do is go out and get a new pc or laptop and then join a forum where people sell used parts, such as techimo, anandtech, tell me nork sent you, thats me.
You can sell your bad unit there, just be honest and tell them the issues. Someone there will still buy it from you.
Better yet, you take it all apart and sell the parts. The video screen is worth $50 or so, cdrom, batteries, etc, etc.
You can make a lot more selling parts but you then would incur more shipping costs. But you can also find one person who wants more than one part!
I think i have given you the best advice, but wait and see, maybe not as im not really into laptops.
