Howdy All

Looking to buy an external message indicator light, sometimes called a beehive light, that i could mount on the wall or ceiling. This would indicate that there is a message in the help desk group mail box. I could if all else fails, mount a phone on the wall for all to look at.

Sooooo anyone know where to buy one or how to make one (i dont mind burning the building down)

I have a Merlin Magix system.
thanks..............pete

You might try radio shack. They have a few worth a shot. If not you might to EBAY and type message light

Hi jake6758,
You are looking for "Beehive" indicators? There is a company called CSI-SUTTLE APPARATUS 800-852-8662, they may still make what I think you are looking for, similar to the old Bell System types: 15, 17, 18 & 21 indicators. Some use incandescent switchboard lamps and some use neon. Come to think of it I should get a new catalog from them. The one I was just looking at is a 1997 version.

Anyway 'hope this helps!

Hmmm....took a look at ebay and radio shack, found one that needs a stutter signal.

Can i assume that the legend/magic give us a light signal, so this wont work right ?

thanks...........pete

Are you going to connect this to a Merlin ? How ?

Stum

sorry i had no luck connecting the light.......pete

there was another thread on this (external vm indicator) with more information, but no luck as well.

im just going to hang phone on wall for all to see the light.

Hi pete01,
I was wondering what was going on! From your description I knew the Beehive they sent you was a 'neon' type indicator and it would not work on the Legend for MWI. This is stated in several places in the Legend practices. The other thread you mention is mine. Yours drew my interest because I have an customer whose application needs a bright visual indicator that will get someones attention, like a strobe.

Well I found out that Avaya makes a stand alone MWI & ringing indicator called the Z34A comcode 103966396, PEC 3152-004. I guess these are kind of rare to find. I must have called about 25 or 30 companies that handled Avaya, most of then had never heard of the Z34A, much less have one. But I lucked out with a company called United Communications in East Syracuse, NY @ 800-752-5046. They have them for $15.00ea. So I ordered one and it showed up back on the 20AUG and it works alright for the MWI and ringing on analogue ports! The Z34A is a small rectangular device with the LED in the middle and a very short cord with modular plug and jack. This might work for your situation. But for me, I took the module apart, the bottom snaps off. It has a small pc board with several diodes, resistors, capacitor, LED, and a transistor or FET, no sure which yet on it. (trying to ID the parts). What I would like to do is find out what the Legend puts on the analoge station loop when it has messages waiting! I want to design a ckt to drive an external indicator like a Wheelock Strobe or whatever when MWI is active on an analoge port.

So far this is the only device I have come across that gives a visual MWI that is not part of a phone for the Legend.

Hope this helps!

Jim,

Thanks, I was looking for one also. I called United Connections and ordered one to see if if it fits my application.
