Hi, I am looking for software to be used to backup 1 folder that I have on my C drive to an external drive,I just want to be able to mirror this one folderand I am not looking to mirror my whole operating system. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

You could use a batch file to copy the folder and contents at a specified time.

if you're using Professional edition of XP you could use inbuilt backup. start -> accessories -> system tools -> backup

SyncBack from 2BrightSparks is worth a look. It has a lot of options plus a freeware and a couple of paid versions.

I second SyncBack...it is a reliable utility and I use it every day on several PCs...and a server. Nifty app to keep two directories identical.

I sniffed around the www.karenware.com site, made me nostalgic for the "old" Internet, where people created and shared stuff just to do it. I'm taking some of her stuff for a whirl, thanks for the tip toolman59.

Karens Tools have been around for years, she is from the "old" internet which is why her stuff is free. Plus she is super cool. Been on her mailing list more than 10 years. Every once in a while, she'd hang out with Leo Laporte on the old TechTV days.

Back on topic, most back up drives will come with some sort of mirroring or back up software. Plug it in and check the drive to see if there are files on it.

Cheers
Rob
