I am looking for a router solution that will sit in front of our web and data application servers. The router should be able to serve an IP block, high levels of traffic, and have a high level of security. I am not against Linux solutions, but I need a managed solution that requires little to no knowledge/management of the Linux OS, even if it is a Linux solution.

Suggestions anyone?

Sounds like you need a unified threat management appliance. Manufacturers like Cisco, Sonicwall, Watchguard, Juniper, etc... all have excellent products. I personally use Sonicwall appliances. Not as "intense" to configure like Cisco would be, offer plenty of wizards to get you going in creating "rules", and much more cost effective than some. Get with a respectable vendor that will help you match the level of appliance with the Internet pipe you have coming in, amount of users, possible VPN requirements, etc...

That is one of two posed solutions I am currently looking at. Another is where an existing hardware product is "flashed" and OpenWRT is loaded onto it. What do you know of that?

Nothing per say. What I initially glean from the product is that it is geared toward application developement using the OpenWRT as the framework for you to get started with.If your into app developement and know linux code and scripting, this might be an option for you, but to me, sounds like a lot of work and hassle and your initial post mentioned "but I need a managed solution that requires little to no knowledge/management of the Linux OS, even if it is a Linux solution."
