Hello

I'm working in a retail company that would like to put computers with DSL internet connactions on the shop floor to help our sales staff. However, we all know that this will attract hackers.

so i'm looking for a Linux-based browser that can be fully customised: i.e. no address bar, no unauthorised sites, no "x" button etc etc.

anyone have any ideas? I've been thinking about Mozilla but i'm not sure?

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Try Lynx, (but it might be a bit over the top for your goals).

Thanx for the suggestion smah. I thought about Lynx but would as far as i know it's all text-based. And while that doesn't bother me, i jnst know i'll be asked for graphics just days after setting the danm thing up!! :-(

I tried typing in "Kiosk mode" in google bcastner and found lots of useful information. So now i'm weighing up all the pros and cons of paying for a kiosk mode-capable browser (like Opera) vs. chancing my arm with a free one (like Netscape or Mozilla).

Thanx a million both of you. That's exactly what i was looking for :)

Is a properly configured firewall not enough?

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
