I have an iMac with OS 10.4.11 and Power Mac with OS 10.4.11 and OS 9.2 classic. I have a Konica Minolta color laser 2550 printer. The printer is a real piece of crap. It is the fourth that I have had because they all have been defective or couldn't do the type of printing that I need. The first two wouldn't print in PS and the last two have just broken, one on arrival wouldn't function and this one after just a year has quit. I called KM and they said that I ld to take it to a service shop to have it repaired and they promised to have a supervisor return a call but haven't. I don't want another printer fiasco and would like some advice on a quality printer - color laser. that will work with PS and that isn't as slow as molasses. I will not use a KM and we have a dell at work that is a bit better but is not what I need either. If anyone has any ideas, i would certainly appreciate your advice.

Getting a low priced color postscript printer, laser or inkjet, is not easy.

HP has been using a lot of PS emulation rather than true PS at the low end.

You might take a look at some of the Xerox Phasers. They do have a few machines in the price range of your machine. Just make sure that they run true PS, not emulation. Some of these machines also come with strict Pantone profiles so color matching can be a bit easier.

Your Dell at work is a rebadged Lexmark.

As far as speed goes - if you're trying to print high quality 4C on a lower cost machine, it will not be fast. If you're trying to get anywhere near proof quality, you're talking minutes per page vs pages per minute.

Using OSX 10.3.9 & 10.4.11 on a G4, G5 & Intel Macbook
