I am assembling a system with a Tyan S2885 Thunder K8W dual Processor board and 2AMD 246 Opteron Processors and 1 Gig of Ram. I need a good video card (ATI or NVidia) that is compatible with this. It says it is compatible with AGPPRO & 1,5v(4x/8x) AGP cards. It also says AGP 8x/110W (3.0 spec). Any ideas on what board would be good for copying video and gaming?

Any of the cards that have come out in the last year that are mid to high end. (ATI: 9800XT,9800,9600. NVIDIA:5700,5900,5950. Pro's and ultra's are faster, but cost more. Stay away from the SE versions, they only have half the texture pipe and are a crippled card. Hope this gives you a place to start. Most cards are non agp pro, which is different then say a ATI 9800 pro,so leave the little plastic piece in the slot.

BTW, Tyan makes ATI version cards. Go to egghead.com and look in the video section. They are slightly lower priced than the straight ATI cards and if anything SHOULD work with your board, thiers should.

I like Sapphire ones myself.

Doesn't the motherboard come with a recommended "compatibility" list of graphics cards (I know my friends Tyan did) and you have got to be careful as these motherboards do have more compatibility issues than the average desktop platform.
