Just looking for a recommendation for a good website/book for learning about writing queries & working with recordsets in SQL within an access VBA module.

Thanks,

Chris

Good website? "You iz he'ah": ; . You'll find more variety of problems and solutions than anywhere else on the web. If you really want to learn, take some of the problems you see here and try to find a solution for them! Read the solutions and apply them to see how they work. One of the wonderful things about this is they are real life situations, "non-fiction"!

Did you ever hit the F1 key on your computer when you're in Access? There's a year's worth of reading in there with examples you can copy/paste in to a database and then play with. Really easy!

Good books: Without promoting, rather recommending (again!) Access 97 or 2000 Developers Handbook by Sybex, probably available anywhere. This is in the intermediate/advanced range, and might be a little heavy if you're just starting out but it comes with a sample CD and is really well written in plain English. Gord

I agree with Gord...."You iz he'ah"! These folks are great and will help / guide you with just about any Access problem you can think of! They've certainly helped me out alot!

The help files that come within the Access program are a little scary and difficult and frustrating to manuver around in at first...but for me, that was mostly from not really knowing what the keyword was that I should be searching for. I only knew what I wanted to do.

Best advice I can offer is to just roll both pant legs up & jump in. You might flounder around a little bit at first using the help files......but between this forum and those help files, you won't need much else.....at least for what you've asked for.

Persistence will pay off!

I should have a file to insert for this perennial question:

-Sybex for sure
-Access 2000 Power Programming, Scott Barker, Sams Pub

Good intro with useful stuff:

-Intro to Access 97/2000 VBA, Smith Sussman, Wrox

Also keep Notepad in your toolbar and read this forum religiously. There are some real ringers in here who are very generous with their time and talents.
