I'm very new to css and coding but i'm trying to take my page here

and make it look like my page here

Using CSS

The reason I ask for a detailed walk though is because I don't intend to have to change my code again for a very long time and I don't want to have to learn the whole code just to finish my page.

Thank you guys very very much for your assistance and advice.

Check out faq222-2244 (which you were referred to earlier) especially para 15. Then go back to the answers given in thread215-1431193.

If you don't see why I've given this answer, read carefully.

I'm sorry if I came off bad I told you thanks and also gave you a start for a valuable post.

I didn't have time to read all the stuff in the links you just posted but thank you.

I did read the part where it said something to the effect of asking very very basic questions in areas that normally deal with advance stuff.

So I guess thats what the problem is.

Thanks for trying to help me.

I'm going to go back to the other post once I figure out how to

- Move all of your inline styles into an external style sheet.

I'm not looking at a big pic i'm just trying to do the one little part. I know 100% that I can find my answers on w3c or html dog but I'm just asking if someone know of a more detailed place to look. I don't want the whole manual just the page its on.

Thank you so much for helping me.

Tutorials on htmldog are pretty short and well written and should give you enough understanding of CSS to do the page you're trying to do. Asking us to give you a detailed walkthrough on how to do it, while at a same time not wanting to sacrifice some of your own time to learn this stuff is not a good way to approach this. If you're unwilling to learn, look at places like rent a coder to hire someone to write the code for you.

CSS and Semantic markup requires a much more holistic approach than coding with tables.

You just have to get a feel for it and understand what different elements are for then how to use CSS to make them behave in the way you want.

It's not just a matter of replacing table tags with something else.

Almost before you learn CSS you need to learn proper HTML. The best bit is that you probably already know it, but don't realise as you have been 'trained' into using tags to achieve a stylistic result.

The basic idea is that HTML tags should denote what the content is. For instance, a heading, a paragraph, a list etc.
Concentrate on the semantic structure of what you are trying to put online.

Once you have a solid semantic base you can look at using CSS to alter how those HTML elements look and interact with one another.
