Hi,
Currently I'm using FileMaker (various versions) on stand-alone Mac computers. Every time someone needs to make a change, it has to be done at five different places. I'm trying to make a centralized small-scale database that will be used by both Windows and Mac users. The database will reside on a Windows 2003 server Small Business Edition. Which database program would you recommend that would be able to convert the FileMaker database and make it a centralized one? Thank you very much.

As far as I know, the only thing that you are going to be able to do to make it cross-platform is to make it truly client server based. As a specific example a Web front end with a MS SQL/MySQL/Oracle backend. For a small database something like MS Access would work if you were only worried about it working on Windows.

Windows 2003 SBS should come with SQL 2000 Standard Edition (or SQL 2000 SBS which should be the same thing), so it shouldn't cost you anything to use SQL as the backend.

If you don't want a web based front end, you'll have to write an app for a front end, which means that you'll have to write a copy of the app for Windows and another front end for the Mac, unless you make the front end in Java or Perl, which can both run on both platforms. But that will probally cost much more than creating a web front end that can be acessed by a web browser on both platforms.
