During the past few weeks, I have been asking you guys questions, etc and been working on some sites...

Here are the sites I've been working on that you guys have helped with...

This one is just one of the first tinkers that I was doing...I scrapped it, and am now working on a new design.

This site, I have been re-doing...try printing it...doesn't work...I'm fixing that right now.
Also, click on any of the sections, then right click on the background and press play...I gotta fix that one too...

Anyways, any tips/help/suggestions are welcome.

Is anyone going to those sites?...=(

I like it. I think it look well done. The only thing i noticed right off was the roll over effecs, which are cool, but seem to look as if ones next to eachother are going off at the same time. You already know it is a simple fix.
I wish I were in Florida, Dallas is a drag....

For a newbie very good. Go on like this and you'll have a brilliant future as a designer. One remark though: in the architecture site I found the rollover colors too much (horizontal menu bar up. Try it with more dimished colors. Fits the subject better I think.

Cheers,

dartali

Hi Whitetiger,

Think that the second one (your latest one) is brilliant! Well done!

Very nice design WhiteTiger...! Looks like you is on you're way to being a great designer. One thing I noticed (as did natedeia), the rollovers on the front are set to trigger onMouseover & onMouseout. Don't know if you ment to do it but it looks cool!!!! roda B-)

Learning is like rowing against the current. As soon as you stop, you start going backwards.

Yea, I think I'll make the colors look a little more faded on those menu bars...and the forum site, I didn't do the rollovers, some other guy did, and I'm actually fixing the site up using existing graphics, and my own knowledge (which isn't much right now)...

In a couple of days, expect to see some NICE site design for a newbie. I've been mainly working on office stuff (I'm part network manager)...and fixing computers and stuff, so I haven't had much time to play around.

Also, what's a good graphics program for vector editing?...in flash, I can't create the designs I need as intracutely...oh, this upcoming design is going to be sweet...=)

First off, it will be my first time creating a site from scratch...I will be borrowing some code from a tutorial site, to learn duplicatemc. Listen to the idea for the site design I have (for my paintball team or a local group of teams)

It's going to be a tech/future design, I'm going to have slightly tabbed buttons which look like
___________________
/ |___________ |
\_______/

They will have a beveled border around them (Any tips on doing this?) and in the center, it will be a flickering holographic type light...when you hover over, it will tint to a blue flickering light...

Directly on the page, it will already have some text explaining the page...when you click on any of those buttons, it will check if my opening sequence is played...
The opening sequence, is going to be yet another holographic type thing...just think mechwarrior =)...I dont have it totally planned out yet, but I'm thinking there will be a bar come down from the top, then another bar spread horizontal across the page, then bars are going to rotate on a pivot point on the edge of the horizontal bar...the side bars will have little lazer projectors in them I am thinking for now. The little things might slide out from them, about 20 or so, then beam across to one waiting on the other side, in a grid. Then the holograph part will fade in...(square colored green w/ alpha fading in to about 50%...

Anyways, sorry so long, but how to you think of the idea?...

Oh, and behind those buttons, there will be kind of a Bubble tube...so it shows off the transparency effects...=)

About vector editing software: Adobe Ilustrator is a good one apparently. I haven't used it much so I don't know if it's the best but a few people I know swear by it. As far as you're (new site from scratch) design goes, sounds good. Be careful not to have too much going on at the same time though as this will cause bandwidth problems. By this I mean if you have a lot of tweening going on at the same time the users machine will slow down (even, as I've found out if you have loads of ram). You probably know all this by now anyway but just incase you didn't. roda B-)

Yea, actually, I'm only going to have 1 thing going on at once at any time...it's not all going to be like, MAJOR ANIMATION everywhere...I'm not crazy, I know my limitations...=-Q

It's going to be kind of uniform tho, exactly how a machine would act....do you guys know of any flash sites that have that future/tech design?
