i have an expense table where 3 categories are General and 7 are specific- when the record in the table has one of the General Categories- depending on which of the 3 general categories it is - say Cat1, Cat2, Cat3 - ex. if Cat1 the expense amount needs to be mulitplied by a %allocation for the specific category that resides in a calculated query- and that amount of that expense given to a specific one or two or three of the 7 categories-thinking I could create an append - ?update query-to add 2 or more records with the new expense amount with modified specified Category and delete the actual record with the General category and expense amount??

any ideas-thanks
