long idle in 'w' but ps -f -tp shows no processes.

i've got an idle on a port listed from 'w' of 95 hours.
i did a ps -f -tp8 and got nothing.(the port is ttyp8).
i don't think its causing any problems, but have seen this before and want to find out how to get rid of it and where the port record is.
