I work for a pipeline company. We are currently in the early stages of installing a new 60 mile pipeline. Management wants to know the feasibility of laying fiber adjacent to the pipe in the right-of-way.
Anyone know of a Single-mode line driver that will operate 90Km, where I could place one on each end and connect my switches directly?

There will be a couple booster stations along the way, but not much else, and solr is the oly option in some areas of the line.

I believe the usual long-haul solution is to run power for the repeaters alongside the fiber on copper.

I believe you can get cabl eassemblies that have the copper and fiber together so you can pull it in a single step.

But I'll admit I don't really know much about fiber outside plant.

In fact you could run the power "phantom" on the copper and then you'd have a low grade redundant communications channel.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I will look into the devices you list.
