I am trying to have the users of my domain activate the login script (NT 4.0 Server) on their PCs (Win2K Pro).
On one machine the batch file (KIX32) works perfectly fine and on another machine it won't work. The only difference I have found is that one machine uses Long File Name support in the cmd (eg c:\documents and settings) and on the other machine it has 8.3 support (eg c:\docume~1). How in the heck do I change this setting so that both machines will properly run the login script? (the one using the 8.3 format works, so I need to change from Long File Names to 8.3)

Thanks,

Have you solved the problem? I really like to know your solution because I met the same problem just like yours-the command prompt won't allow me to cd into a folder with a long name. Please give a detailed an instruction because I am not too familiar with Windows 2000 professional.

Many thanks!

Jane

Yes, I tried putting the folder name in quotes. But that doesn't work. However, I found out the cmd.exe does allow me to cd into a folder with a long name.

Thanks you all!
