Hi !
I have a problem in IE5.5 (System W2KProf., 384Mb RAM, so for sure no RAM-Shortage etc.) :

Whenever I right-click any Element within any IE-Window ( to cut/copy/paste some text, e.g.), I have a delay of ~5 Seconds before the property-page comes up.
This delay happens EACH time I right-click within any IE-Window, not just when right-clicking for the first time.

I DONT have this problem within any other programm, including Windows Explorer.

Anyone ANY Ideas ?
thanks alot in advance, Chris

Had this problem when running McAfee anti-virus versions *after* 4.5.1 - downgraded to 4.5.1 and problem went away. No mention of the problem on the McAfee site tho' ;)

Hi & thanks to all who responded !
Finally, I found the REAL solution to this :
It has ( at least its not the real cause of the problem) nothing todo with McAffe, but with IEs NLS-Settings.

Some bright spark in the Win2K/IE development teams decided it would be a good idea for IE to scan all the codepages whenever you right-click, causing the right-click delay.

Either simply remove all EMPTY CodePage-definitions in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePageor create a new subkey and move the empty ones there, or
run mie55speedup.exe which is freeware and available from this url:

Hope this helps,
Chris
