I have this odd problem that when I push the power button, sometimes I have to wait for 10-15 seconds until the Computer starts up. It's fairly random how long it takes, sometimes it starts right away but usually I have to wait a few seconds until the power lights up and the machine starts to work.

What is causing this you think?

What system? Do you mean before Windows appears, or before the fans spin up and you can hear "noises" (beeps) from the computer?

paxelius,
If you press the button and it takes several seconds for the power indicator light to light up, then I would suspect that the power button itself is binding maybe from "Dust" built up inside the front cover. Is this an AT or ATX system?

My system is:

CPU:
AMD Athlon XP "Barton", 1833 MHz (11 x 167) 2500+

Motherboard:
MID: 01/15/2003-FN41-6A61BH29C-00
MName: Shuttle FN41 v1/v2

Chipset:
North Bridge: nVIDIA nForce2 IGP (Crush18)
South Bridge: nVIDIA MCP2-T

BIOS:
Type: Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00PG

It's now 3 years old.

Micker: From the moment I push the powerbutton until the fan spins up yes.

Maingeek: You might be on to something.

Suspicion that it is more serious than the power button. Sounds more like the M/B keepalive and powerup circuit is slow responding.

When you hit the power button it sets a latch on the M/B and shortly sends a signal to the power supply. So it can be the M/B or the P/S. At least at the simplest.
