Hi All,

Has anyone else had this problem? Our dialup connections are able to login to the network, but we have to wait 2-5 minutes before we see the server desktop. This is happening on all dialup connections. MS Terminal server 4. Metaframe 1.8.

Dialing seems ok. Login seems to be working. Display time is way too long.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Zane

Try reducing the number of colours displayed in the coenction type settings. Are you using Active Desktop coz that will be sloow.

Thanks for the reply.

There is no active desktop and the colors are set to 256. I just rebooted the server and recycled the modems to see if this helps.

Are the modems conencting at full speed and are you getting the expected transfer rate of data, or are the modems waiting for some server process?

It sounds like maybe the profiles are getting a bit large - check the size. They shouldn't really be bigger than 5Mb or so - 1.5Mb is ideal.

Profile bloats include temporary internet files and user data files - these should never be saved in a profile, but to a file server. Such files can be pointed out of the profile via a system policy (or a reg hack, if you're so inclined!).

Hope this helps.
