LOM help

does anyone know how to boot the machine to single user mode or multiuser mode ? or powercycle a box.. thanks in advance

Your topic mention "LOM HELP" So I am not sure on what you are looking for.

But to boot a system to Single user use this command:

boot -s

If system O/S is running: init s

If system O/S is running: reboot -- -s

hi im talkin about from lom> prompt.. i dont have boot command from there.. these are the cmds..

just trying to find out which one to run

poweron Powers the server on.

poweroff Powers the server down to standby power mode.

reset Resets the Netra 20 server.


should i poweroff and then poweron or will reset do ....

There is not boot in ALOM. You would have to break to the prom and boot from there.

In LOM I think you may need to use "console" command to access Solaris

Yes, the console command should take you to the ok prompt.

when i type console it doesnt do anything.. it just sits there forever

You entered console from the LOM prompt and its hanging, so Is your system up & running?

You need to double check the eeprom settings for inpu-device and output-device. The prom settings need to be setup for the lom.

# eeprom input-device=ttya
# eeprom output-device=ttya

I assume you know how to enter LOM, via hash then full stop, i.e.

will bring in LOM or
ALOM (advanced)

sc>help
sc>console
hit return a couple of times to go to o/s
if still hanging enter #.
returns to LOM
