Hi,
Is there any possible way of splitting up a log of a program.I am using macros and generating 4 different reports for 4 different groups inside the same program.Since I am calling the variables inside the same program, the log is really huge.Does SAS 9.1.3 support in anyway so that we can output the same log into different sub logs.

Thanks

Yep, there's a procedure that allows you to divert your log file to a specific location. Look up PROC PRINTTO. You can put a PROC PRINTTO step at the top of each section to divert the log to a new location for each one. This allows you to programmatically assign names/locations for each log file. You should also close the log down after each section. This will actually stop the default log being printed and there is no way to get SAS to write to two separate log locations at the same time. If you use this method, I would recommend writing a note out to the log file (using a Data _NULL_ step with put statements) at the end of each section pointing any user to where the next log file is going to be, and perhaps at the start of eac log file saying where it came from to make debugging easier.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for giving me a start in the right direction. It sounds logically possible.will let know of the outcome.

Thanks
Raj
