Logs and Stats

Hello

Just browsing through my webstats and noticed that I've been getting hits from countries I wasn't expecting. How accurate is this information i.e. is that hit really from Finland. I would be more confident if there wasn't a huge percentage of unresolved/unknown countries.

I'm using Webalizer to analyse the logs.

They should be fairly accurate.
What kind of site do you have, is it available through search engines?
Why wouldn't you expect hits from certain countries, Finland for example?

Btw, i'm in Finland!

The website is for the church I go to at

http://www.lighthousecc.co.uk.

It is available to search engines.

I was surprised to receive hits not just from Finland but from other parts of Europe because the information is fairly specific to Manchester (the city that I live in) but not generic enough to get tourist traffic.

I just thought that it was cool that somebody in Finland looked at my site.

Now another person in Finland looked at your site

As most search engines will search your documents texts the words contained in each page will generate the hits, not META Keywords for example.

So someone looking for info on lighthouses might find you page because of "Welcome to The Lighthouse Christian Centre"
for example.

Can you check what keywords people used to find your site? A good stats tracker will tell you that.

Woo Hoo I'm getting big in Finland!

I have webalizer on my site. I'm getting a few hits relating to lighthouses but not many.

Since I started this thread yesterday i've got further hits from Poland, Denmark, Belguim, Norway and Japan. However the majority are coming from the states - are these stats so high because of search engine spiders?
