of course it wont let me see the mail files in /var/log/mail on my mandrake7.1 machine, but when i try to use "find / *" the list in the mail directory shows a ton of files. heres a snip

/var/log/mail/mail.info.2.gz.1.gz.3.gz.1.gz.1.gz.4.gz
/var/log/mail/mail.info.2.gz.1.gz.3.gz.1.gz.2.gz.1.gz.4.gz
/var/log/mail/mail.info.2.gz.1.gz.3.gz.4.gz.5.gz
/var/log/mail/mail.info.2.gz.1.gz.3.gz.1.gz.1.gz.1.gz.3.gz
==================

I cant figure out how to see whats causing it, because it wont let me read them. at least these dont belong to root.

logrotate has taken over my machine. I suppose i could stop the process, but i figured it must be doing its portion of the job and something else is causing the messages.

Tips or Suggestions? How can i clear all of those files out? how can i read one of the messages to see where the original problem lies?

by gosh, thats it!
pure genius!

thanks, im upgrading my logrotate now.

any idea on how to get rid of all those files?
