I have an XP client that is joined to a forest/domain. I set up a two way trust between this domain and another forest/domain. In my logon box I can select either forest/domain, but when i try to logon to the secondary domain the XP machine hangs at "applying personal settings". If i unjoin and join the secondary domain the logon works fine. Both domains have forward DNS lookup zones to the other forest/domain. Does a client actually have to be joined to a forest/domain to logon successfully? I thought the trust would be all that was necessary.

any help would be appreciated.

Update/correction - I CAN log on to the secondary domain, but the client "hangs" on applying personal settings for about 3 minutes and then everything seems to go normal.

What could be causing the slow down in the logon process. There's no logon scripts running or policy being applied.

thanks
