Having trouble returning a report from a jsp call. We can't seem to launch the session manager, and it doesn't appear to be a firewall/port issue. The error message states that the "Server could not be found" or "Server may be down." Works fine in development, but not from beyond the firewall. The two boxes can communicate through FTP but not through launching the sessionManager. Does not appear to be a tomcat issue either. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi,
Have you specified a return port for your Web Component server and opened that port on the firewall?

You don't state what version you're using or what platform so the help can only be limited.

The -requestport probably needs to be set on the CMS/APS and opened for bi-directional traffic on the firewall.
Assuming v10, does ePortfolio work at all?

If this still does not work you'll need to fully explain your architecture. What servers are where, what firewalls are where and what type they are.

Turkbear: There is no WCS in a Java web tier deployment.

We have CE 10, and I've been told overnight that our java programmer found the solution. She's not in yet today, so I don't know the particulars. All Crystal servers are on a Windows 2000 box, with designated ports opened for communication. We think it is perhaps a problem with the jsp code and not the firewall. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi,
Thanks Kingfisher..I do not use Java for our CE system and I am always happy to learn something new..

Simple solution - after we opened the ports, we had to restart tomcat (not sure what that is, my java experience is very limited, but our java programmer seems to need it!). Apparently tomcat wasn't reading our updates until it was restarted.

Thanks to all for their input.
