I would like to have some examples of how Admin guys out there are dealing with logon scripts for departmental OU's. I know we can basically strip Call etc from our NT scripts Is there any simpler way to manage these, other than publishing them?
I'm not sure I'm totally understanding. But I just set up a logon script for each OU using Group Policy. Under User Config-> Windows Settings, there is a logon, logoff script setting.
Not sure if that is what you wanted, sorry if not...
Can I use the same mapped letter for example for multiple OU's?
Can I avoid using letters or do we literally need to as in a mapped drive?
The problem I have is from our NT scripts we have each department using the same letter but mapped to a different share.
Can you give me an example of any scripts.
Thanks in advance
Yes, you can use the same letters for different OU's. Granted that users are not members of multiple OU's (Via user groups).
I just use the regular old basic
NET USE Z: \\<servername>\<sharename> /PERSISTENT:YES
You will have to have the script reside in the appropriate Sysvol folder for that OU to run properly. The easiest way I've found to figure out which one it is, is to click Browse when you are inputting the script. You can then look at the directory tree to see where you're at.
That has re-assured me. We are under a lot of pressure at this moment to do a lot of things this is one of them, so you have verified a major point for me.
