hi

i have one win98se pc that get the logon prompt almost daily. the connection to the exchange 2k server never drops though. the user just clicks cancel and everything is fine. but get this when the user tries to logon again instead of cancelling, it comes back with a logon error. something about wrong credentials. but he ALWAYS stays connected. i can ping the exchange server and dns is working fine. this is the only pc that does this on the network and of course... it's the boss's. i'm baffled. any help is appreciated. thanks.

The only thing that strikes me about this message is the fact that you wrote that the user gets the log on screen almost daly. This leads me to believe that your network setting may not be setup properly. I am not sure how your network is setup, but I can tell you what I would do if I were experiencing this issue. First I would check to make sure that my computer was logging onto the Domain properly, and that all of the network settings were settup correctly. (I would make sure my Primary Network Logon was Client for Microsoft Networks, not Windows Logon). Each mailbox has a username and password, when you are logged onto the network properly, you wont have to log on when clicking Outlook, but if you are not logged onto the network properly, you will be prompted with the loggon.

i double checked the network settings and everything is fine. he logs in everyday with no problems. he can browse nethood and can see the mail server. like i said he's logged on and that logon prompt keeps popping up regardless. but one thing is he's the only person with outlook 97. could this be the issue?
