Hi,
I have a user who can not log on to there pc. once they enter their username and password they get an error saying a licence file could not accuratly be found and the error # 0x8007007f. This is a business and their should not have been a problem with anyone else using the license.

A problem is preventing Windows from acurately checking the license for this computer.
Error code: 0X8007007f

Call Microsoft. You can sort the issue in a few minutes.

Would anyone have a contact number? The only thing I see on the microsoft webpage are $245 per call numbers?

boot from your WinXP CD, and once it starts, select repair existing installation.

This will replace any missing files and correct any corrupt files.

Once that is completed, you will then be able to boot into WinXP normally.

You will also need to apply the Service pack again

Remember... do not choose the Recovery console... go through the install from the CD as though you are installing it fresh. When you choose the C: drive it will let you know you alreay have an installation there... it will ask if you want to delete it or repair it. Try to repair.

hope this helps

If you click the little key symbol on the task tray it should bring you to the page to select Telephone Support with the phone numbers.

Lovalles is correct that a repair re-installation of XP might cure the problem. It all depends on what XP believes the problem to be:
