Hello

Has anyone come a accross a problem where after a certain time the machines disconect from the server? it is happening to one of our clients at around 6:30pm but i can not find any enteries in the event log.

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you using active directory,novell???
You can set up user accounts who can only be logged on at certain times however I assume that this may not be the problem as its only happening one user.

Using active directory but no logon times have been set in group policy or anywhere else. It is just a strange issue it justs disconnects them like if the network cable unplugs or something.

check your network card in the device manager to see if there's a setting to allow the NIC to go into standby "to save power".

Check the domain acount to make sure there is no restrictions to logon times..

then go here on local gpedit.msc

local computer=>windows settings=>security options

make sure Automatically log off users when logon time expires (local)

is NOT enabled...

ahhh carp,,,just thought of someting else....is this user only allowed to have ONE logged on instance? If so, is anyone else using the users credentials to logon from a different location, meaning her session would log off?

If so, change her password and be done with it.

If the user is allowed only one logged on instance the other person trying to log on would not be allowed to log on.
Apparently teddysheri has already checked the domain account policys.
Karmic:
If it was the power option on the nic it would be very unusual to kick in at the same time every day.

We'll see what happens when some of our questions/tips have been tried.

Thanks for the response guys, but..

No they are allowed to logon as many machines as they like in the building, and and network cards are not going in to standby mode nor is there any logged events on either the server or workstation. It is very strange but it probably is user error.
