I am running WIN 98SE, Compaq 5716 PIII 450Mhz, 384MG RAM, Voodoo 3 AGP. Installed hardware/software for the Logitech Momo FF steering wheel using the Logitech Wingman v4.11.c software. When the USB connector is pushed into the USB port, I get a message that Windows is building a driver database, and then a blue screen that reads:

"A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:FF16F782 in VXD LHidHi(02) + 00000022.
The current application will be terminated."

After rebooting...all other apps/hardware works fine.

Has anyone run across this problem before?

Here is the IRQ list...

Hmm. HID stands for Human Interface Device - that is, a control system which you use to modify the operation of a program or the OS.

On one computer that I am responsible for maintaining - a AMD 400mHz with a SoundBlaster Live!, the person put on the Microsoft Sound System (the original one with USB, a sub and audio controls on the top of the right speaker that work through the USB). The HID for that just gives me FITS!! I want to blow it up! (typical with me and Microsoft products. Over-complicated and under-tested). To help debug the computer during times of crises (which with that computer is often - he has _so_ much junk installed) I have to shut down the rotten HID to get it out of the way.

I wonder if, on your computer, our common thread of configuration is the same - the Linksys NIC. Can you shut it down (in Device Manager), reboot, and try the wheel again? I'd like to know the outcome. The fact that it is sharing the IRQ with the USB just makes me all the more suspicious.

We'll start from here and work our way forward. Your mileage may vary...
