Does anybody know how to create user with disallowed symbol $ in login in Unixware 7.1.0 or in SCO OpenServer 5.0.5. For Samba PDC (2.2.5) setup we need to create user machine
account with $ in the end of login.
Can someone please help me? Thanks for replying.

You can try creating a normal login and then editing the /etc/passwd file and renaming the corresponding /tcb/files/auth file to the login you are trying to create. I do not know if this will work, but it's the only possibility I can think of.

If you try this, be sure to make a backup first, and keep a superuser login connected while you test it because you could wind up damaging all of your user accounts and not being able to log in if you aren't careful.

don't think that you can....but
samba usernames do not have to be the same as unix usernames. the smbusers file provides a map between the two systems. the other question is whether or not samba will accept a username with the meta character in it.
