Hello,
We are currently migrating from win98 workstations to WinXP workstations on a NT 4.0 Domain. With Win98 we had different vbs login scripts for each group. These scripts would edit the registry to create user specific profiles. We are trying to do the same thing with the XP computers, but after many tests and much frustration discovered that the registry edits in the vbs script will only be written if the user belongs to the Administrators group created locally. We do not want to create users on every computer for obvious reasons. Any light that can be shed on this topic will be greatly appreciated.
Also, I belong to the NT Administrators group, but when I log into an XP computer I do not have admin rights unless I set it up locally.
Is the fact that NT 4 uses User.dat and XP Pro and Win2K use NTUser.Dat related in anyway?
Thanks
Glenn
