Is the Login Name either NT or AD exposed as a global variable in a Universe? I know the login name is available in the Repository since I have done this in a Business View where it is called current_username. I believe the Universe is stored in the Repository much like a Business View so it should be available I would think. Anybody know?

Login Name in Universe?

A universe is not stored in the same location as a business view. A Business View is stored in the system database.
A universe file is stored in the input file repository as a .unv file. The location of where in the input file repository it is stored is stored in the system database. It is just like a report file. .rpt for Crystal, .wid for Web Intelligence, .rep for Desktop Intelligence, all stored in the Input File Repository.
As for the NT or AD username, this would not be stored in the universe. Using the BOE SDK you should be able to reference the user name in a similar way to the way you have done it for a Business View.
I have just checked in the BOENET_SDK.chm file which is on the BOE XI R2 Media and it has properties SI_USERID which is the currently logged on userid and the SI_USERFULLNAME property.

Thank you for your response groggle. I have used the sdk, but that is not what I am looking for. It is a variable available to be resolved in a query that is generated in a WebI Document dependent on a Universe.
For anybody that may be interested, I published the question on the business objects board (BOB) and got this reponse.
@Variable('BOUSER')
This is exactly what I was looking for and it works as I needed to do view time security by login name.
